        这首歌词估计包含了很多英国传统文化。有些语句怕是有典故的，或者是英语中的固定说法。如“It’s just a spring clean for the May Queen”里的“the May Queen”，大概是指英国传统节日“五朔节”选出的少女；这个节日在5月1日，所以“spring clean”该不是春季洒扫的意思。网上查了下，有人译为“大扫除”，从之。“And it’s whispered that soon, if we all call the tune”中的“it’s whispered that”和“call the tune”该是固定说法，参照了其他两个版本的译法，都是字面直译；再查阅谷词在线字典（www.godict.com），分别译为“据秘密传闻”和“发号施令”，另“in the long run”译为“从长远来看（归根结底）”，亦从之。至于piper，该是有寓意的，但不知道是什么意思。英文水平差，暂且这样翻译了，如果有辱这首名曲，恳请见谅并斧正。翻唱版本太多，不一一发上来了。

又及：大约三年前，弥撒、公墓、暗暗、多马和我在湖南科大北院新公寓后面一家餐馆吃饭，这家餐馆在科大有两家连锁，算是科大较好的餐馆了，是我们常去的地方。当时是晚上，人不多了，我们叫了些酒。大约是弥撒起先和老板攀谈的，他总是喜欢和陌生人说话，聊着就叫老板一起喝酒。老板正当盛年，看我们也大方，坐下喝了。席间大谈文学，十分投机。原来老板大学时也是一文青。酒一多，老板豪放地说这顿饭他请了。我们当然不肯，他竟然发起脾气了，只好作罢。再过一年多，大概是我从上海归来，又去那里吃，老板已经不记得这事了。这家餐馆就叫“天堂阶梯”，老板并没有听过这首歌，更不知道齐柏林飞艇。
